Sydney Winter School Holiday Activities

Winter … cold, rainy and gloomy. You may think there’s nothing for kids to do (other than drive you a little bit crazy inside the house).
Well, it turns out there are plenty of really cool activities for kids to do across Sydney throughout winter. And they include everything from adventure-packed days out to more relaxing ideas where the adults can take a break too.

iFly Downunder

1
Located in Penrith, this is Australia’s first indoor skydiving facility (yes, indoor!), safe for kids and adults. If you haven’t heard of this ‘indoor skydiving’ option, imagine being in a wind tunnel, except that you don’t actually fall; the wind is pushing up at you and you feel like floating on a pillow of air, or flying like a superhero.

SkyZone trampoline park

2
Located in Alexandria, this trampoline park is guaranteed fun! It features massive trampolines all connected to each other, connected to make a single massive trampoline, which allows you to jump even from the walls! This indoor activity is great for the whole family, and it’s also a great way to burn some energy after being cooped up indoors from bad weather.

Luna Park

Luna Park is an iconic Sydney theme park that will keep the kids entertained all day, making it perfect for a day out of the house. There are plenty of attractions for a wide variety of ages, and fun rides for kids like the Space Shuttle or Dodgem city, where you don’t need a licence to drive these speed racers.

IMAX Theatre

With everything from box office hits (currently showing the awesome action movie Jurassic World) to stunningly visual documentaries, it’s sure to impress!

Macquarie Ice Rink

Embrace winter with open arms and throw on some skates. There’s plenty of fun to be had gliding across the ice, and even ice skating lessons. Located at the Macquarie shopping centre, there’s even the chance of a little window-shopping too.

This never gets old, and is an amazing opportunity for your kids to come in contact with the wild animals that live on the planet, while mum and dad enjoy amazing city views.
There is also a new attraction at Taronga Zoo: the Wild Ropes! Set in the bushlands surrounding the zoo, this action ropes course is amazing for your kids to experience Aussie outdoors while having great fun.
